Exciting Youth Hunts in New Canton, IL
Introduce young hunters to the thrill of the outdoors with youth hunts at Eagle Lake Outfitters Youth under the age of 16 at the time of the hunt are allowed to hunt for free with a paid adult (parent, grandparent, uncle, or aunt). We know it is rare for a youth to hunt free, but we believe this is where the love of the hunt comes from—our youth.
Please note all tags/permits and licenses are the responsibility of the hunter. Check with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) regarding any additional classes (e.g., hunter safety) that may need to be taken prior to obtaining your permit and license.

Learn More2019 Youth Season
It was another successful youth season in the books for Eagle Lakes OUTFITTERS! There were so many smiles and friendships made during last weekend. The youth hunters and adults enjoyed cowboy cooking over coals, a conservation officer visit, a surprise raffle, games of flashlight tag, hide and seek, practicing with their archery equipment, talks around the campfire, and helping clean up around camp.
It takes a special parent to take off work and take the time and effort to involve their child in events that they know will better them in the future. We would like to say thank you to our guides, families, friends, and everyone who helped make this past weekend a successful and memorable experience for everyone.
We would like to give a special thanks for supporting and donating to our youth hunters raffle to the following: Great Rivers Bank, Farmers State Bank, Top Tier Outdoors, NWTF, Buckmasters, Hunter Specialties (Carl Drake), Copperhead Tavern, Pike County Archery, JDR Shooting Systems, Archer’s Choice Media, Mississippi Valley Hunting and Fishing Assoc. (Glen Sanders), John Borrowman, Scott Bradshaw, Jed Ripplemeyer, Robert Poulter, Alex, and Vince Failla.
We are also grateful to the two hunters who were unable to make it this year and insisted that their deposit be put toward our youth hunt. Thank you, everyone, for such a wonderful weekend. It is our pleasure to be able to host a memorable experience for all of our youth hunters and their parents!
2016 Youth Season
We brought back the pink lipstick challenge that was started in 2015, and this year, we added lucky pinkc bandannas to the hunt! Judging by the size of the deer these kids harvested this year, we think the bandannas worked!!! Everyone here at Eagle Lakes OUTFITTERS is VERY PROUD of each and every youth hunter who visited us.
2015 Youth Season Antics
The year 2015 was such a great one for all of us at Eagle Lakes OUTFITTERS, and one of the big highlights was the youth season hunts. With October being “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” the kids decided to do their part and put the dads on notice!! Anyone who harvested a deer was allowed to get the hot pink lipstick out and paint their dads’ lips. We have never seen dads be so PROUD to show off their makeup.
